Sophia’s experience as a cancer patient has inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. Her goal is to become a pediatric oncology nurse. She will complete her CT-CCNP program in the spring of 2025 and then complete her Bachelor of Science online while she is employed. During the summer she enrolled at Northeast Medical Institute to earn her phlebotomy certification and gain more in-hospital experience. Sophia’s letter of recommendation from her fall clinical supervisor stated, “Not only was Sophia one of my strongest intellectual students, she is one
of the most compassionate, I believe her personal experience as a cancer survivor helped her relate to her patients!” This is Sophia’s fifth Susan Fund scholarship.
