Sofia is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at American Sentinel College at Post University and aims to become a pediatric oncology nurse. Already licensed as a nurse in Connecticut and New York, Sofia says her own experience profoundly influenced her career path and her desire to provide children and families with the same kind of support she received from her nurses nurses. Ongoing treatment has required Sofia to reduce her coursework, but she remains committed to completing her degree and returning to bedside nursing. Her recommender describes her as "one of the most genuine, compassionate, and resilient people" she has known and says Sofia has a natural ability to make people feel "seen, heard, and safe." This is Sofia's seventh Susan Fund award.
