Sona Kocinsky
Trumbull, CT
Harvard Medical School
Sona is a second-year Harvard Medical School student, with a strong interest in pediatric oncology. Her research with Yale's Pediatric Advanced Cancer Experience Lab resulted in a published study for which she was first author. She has also worked at Ronald McDonald House, participated in an oncology program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and served as a patient advocate with MIB Agents. Sona says her own treatment taught her that cancer affects not only the patient, but the entire family, an understanding she hopes to carry into her future work as a physician. Her recommendation letter describes her as "dependable, thoughtful, and grounded in a sense of purpose," bringing both strength and empathy to her advocacy work. This is Sona's sixth Susan Fund scholarship.
