Tess Michaelsen

One of Tess’s career goals is to promote optimal response to medical treatment and care by minimizing stress, while also facilitating communication between medical personnel, the patient, and the family. She has volunteered for Project Sunshine through the TelePlay program, where Tess provided play opportunities to children and their families in hospital settings. The aspects of TelePlay are to increase emotional relief and decrease stress while promoting joy. Tess has also been a program staff member for four years at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. She has also served as an intern at Boston’s Children Hospital in her pursuit of a Child Life and Family Life Master’s degree. Her letter of recommendation said, “She is resourceful, hardworking, and driven to always find a solution. Tess sets a great role model for others.” This is Tess’s first Susan Fund scholarship.
