Sofia Petrafesa
Sofia is working toward her Associate of Science degree from Norwalk Community College’s Nursing program and plans to complete her education with a Bachelor’s of Science from Charter Oak State College. Her ultimate career goal is to provide compassionate care for patients and families in clinical settings as a pediatric oncology nurse. Sofia has previously participated in the Cycle for Survival event as a team leader for #Likeawarrior, raising funds for rare cancer research for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Sofia’s letter of recommendation said, “she is an inspirational role model to her peers and community and deserves recognition for her strength and determination. I consider her to be highly respectful of others, even under the most trying circumstance… Indeed, she is an inspiration.” This is Sofia’s fourth Susan Fund award.
