Sona Kocinsky

Sona is a junior at Tufts University. She is pursuing a biology major and a physics minor. After graduating, Sona plans to attend medical school and specialize in pediatric oncology, ultimately engaging in clinical and research work. This summer she conducted research on osteosarcoma at St. Jude’s as a participant in their Pediatric Oncology Education Program. In her application, Sona said, “Ultimately, I aspire to be a physician-scientist who further these efforts, helping pediatric cancer patients, and impacting lives on a
larger scale by researching more effective and less toxic cancer treatments.” Sona has volunteered for the Boston Harbor Ronald McDonald House, as well as Tuft University’s chapter of Strong Women, Strong Girls. She is also the Vice President of Outreach for Tutors Without Boarders that offers free tutoring to pediatric cancer patients. This is Sona’s third Susan Fund scholarship.
