Sona Kocinsky
Sona is a sophomore at Tufts University. She is planning to major in biology and then to attend medical school. Her experience as a cancer survivor has shaped her career goals. She noted, ―Having watched my oncology team save the lives of countless children while also passionately pursuing pediatric cancer research, I know I also want to employ science to transform lives.‖ She envisions a career as a physician or a physician-scientist, perhaps in the field of pediatric oncology. This past summer, Sona interned as part of a summer program at the University of Maryland‘s Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center. She had the unique experience of pioneering her own research project. Sona has volunteered for Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer as well as Tuft University‘s chapter of Strong Women, Strong Girls. This is Sona‘s second Susan Fund scholarship.
