Sona Kocinsky
Sona is a graduate of Trumbull High School, where she had an outstanding academic record. She is in her freshman year at Tufts. Sona fell in love with the school’s location, welcoming attitude and the superb academic program. She is planning to major in Biology and then pursue a graduate degree, possibly in medicine. Sona is a passionate volunteer and was featured in an article in her local newspaper. She has worked with Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer and raised $12,000 for Spin4Kids. She worked with Sustainable Trumbull and was a math tutor. This is Sona’s first Susan Fund scholarship. She discovered The Fund through her granters at Make-A-Wish Foundation. For her wish, the organization is building a garden for the patients at Sloan Kettering in White Plains where she was treated. This reflects the kind of person Sona is. One of her references described her as “someone who has faced many challenges but has emerged as a strong and powerful person.” This is Sona’s first Susan Fund scholarship.
