Josh described his first year at Maryland as “amazing.” He found his classes challenging and enjoyed the people he met. Josh describes his ultimate goal as “being eligible for the most prestigious medical school.” His goal is to work in the field of public health. Although COVID prevented Josh from volunteering in person, he continued his work with The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation where he serves as a junior advisor. Josh is in contact with several children throughout the United States who are currently fighting cancer. He plays video games with them and stays connected via texts. He is a wonderful role model for them. Josh is described by the founder of the organization as possessing “passion, drive and tenacity!” In the fall, when he returns to school, Josh plans to work with Be The Match Foundation by organizing a bone marrow swab drive. This is Josh’s second Susan Fund scholarship. He became aware of The Fund through Charlie Capalbo, a past recipient. They were both in Boston in the hospital at the same time and have become close friends ever since. They are both amazingly resilient and strong!
