Not only did Giacomo celebrate five years in remission on June 25, he also celebrated a full recovery from COVID-19. Before he caught the virus himself, his semester of college was cut short. More importantly, his baseball season was cut short, too. A day after an exciting win against Stetson in Florida, he found out that his season was over and he would be flying back home immediately. Months later, his plans of playing summer ball disintegrated, too. Depending on the pandemic, Giacomo plans on living off-campus this fall while earning his finance degree. Because he lost this baseball season, Giacomo is considering red-shirting to not only have another year of eligibility on the field, but also an opportunity to earn a business degree as well. This is Giacomo’s fourth year as a Susan Fund recipient.
